EFG Private Bank is to expand its private banking presence in the Channel Islands by opening an office in Jersey.
The bank already has an office in Guernsey, as well as a trust and company administration office in Jersey, EFG Offshore Limited. The bank said that the various operations would provide for a broader offering to clients interested in Channel Islands banking and estate planning opportunities.
EGF has hired Christian Busel from Barclays Wealth to head up its Jersey operation, along with John Coutanche, who joins from Barclays Private Bank in Jersey. Gerard Gardner will head up the overall Channel Islands business for EFG, following the announced retirement of Michael DeJersey.
"This is the second phase in the strategic development of our Channel Islands operations," Gardner said. "In 2004 we consolidated our trust and company administration business in Jersey. Our new banking operation…will give us the ability to offer a wide range of banking services alongside our trust and wealth structuring activities."
