What we offer
Fintactica provides sophisticated private investors with news and analysis on a range of specialist investment sectors as well as the various sophisticated wealth management services available to them.
Our editorial staff writes about offshore mutual funds and unit trusts, hedge funds, private banking services, ethical investment schemes, private equity investment, structured products, real estate, financial fraud prevention, and asset protection issues. Some of our information is freely accessible for online readers, while other stories and articles will only be readable by our subscribers.
The following premier services are also available to Fintactica subscribers.
The Fintactica 50
Fintactica has selected 50 of the top-performing offshore funds that report regularly to Standard & Poor’s, an independent fund performance measurement company. We have based our choice on the consistent track record of the managers of these funds over the last five years. We have not been influenced by the size of the firms concerned. We have selected funds that invest in geographic areas or assets we believe our readership will be interested in, or which we think would be useful in the management of a diverse portfolio of funds.
Inclusion of a fund in this list should not be construed as an offer to invest in that fund, nor as an attempt by that fund’s manager to promote his fund in your country of residence.
The minimum investment level of these funds will vary widely, from as little as US$1000 to as much as US$1 million. Some of these funds may currently be closed to new investments, because certain investment strategies cannot accommodate the large trades big funds like to make. This is often true of hedge funds, which pursue very specialised investment agendas.
Fintactica will review the Fintactica 50 at the beginning of every quarter, and will change up to five funds in the course of this review. The reviews will take place in January, April, July, and October, and the results of the review will be published on the Fintactica site.
The Fintactica Portfolios
Fintactica also maintains three model portfolios, namely Fintactica Aggressive, Fintactica Balanced, and Fintactica Defensive. Our journalists speak with a broad range of leading investment experts in the course of their work, and often form their own views on the direction of financial markets and other asset classes, like venture capital funds and commercial real estate. We construct our portfolio weightings according to our opinions on the likely direction of markets over the next three months, and allocate those weightings to specific fund managers within the Fintactica 50. This enables us to calculate the overall performance of our proprietary investment strategies over a given time period.
The Fintactica Portfolios merely reflect the investment views of the Fintactica editorial staff. While our readers are welcome to mirror these portfolios, Fintactica does not accept responsibility for any losses that occur as a result of this. We encourage all our readers to seek independent professional advice before investing in any funds or other investment strategies covered on this site.
Fintactica Q&A
Fintactica can also answer practical questions put to it by its subscribers on those areas we write about regularly. As a subscriber you can submit questions to our editorial staff which we or our contacts in the financial services industry will endeavour to answer. Please make sure your question has not already been asked by another reader before submitting one. All answers will be published on the site, although we will not reveal the reader’s identity or specific personal circumstances.
At this point in time Fintactica is not authorised to provide investment advice by the Financial Services Authority in the United Kingdom, so currently we cannot give you detailed advice on individual circumstances. However, as a firm we are in contact with fund managers and investment specialists around the world, whose views we can report.
Fintactica Q&A is intended to deal with reader queries on those areas in which this site specialises. Fintactica does not currently cover personal taxation, as this is a detailed and complex subject that will vary in its importance from individual to individual, depending on personal circumstances, country of residence, etc. and is less likely to be of general interest.
